Emily Elder
Emily Elder is a bilingual (French – English) workplace lawyer and investigator with experience across employment, labour, human rights and pay equity law. She advises on complex workplace issues and conducts investigations using a trauma-informed, fair, and practical approach.
Emily’s path to law began in community-based work, where she supported youth and marginalized communities as a spoken word artist, facilitator, and crisis worker in the violence against women sector. This foundation continues to shape her work, especially in understanding the human side of workplace conflict.
She holds degrees from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Philosophy in Diversity Studies from the University of Cape Town and both BCL and LLB degrees from McGill University. Before joining SpringLaw, she practiced at leading labour and employment firms and worked in knowledge management, helping lawyers navigate emerging legal and AI-related issues.
Emily is known for her thoughtful, people-first approach and her ability to bring clarity to complex situations. Outside of work, she is a dedicated parent of two who spends her time cheering on her children’s activities, practicing karate, and enjoying a well-earned glass of wine.
